UNITY GAME ENGINEER (+3 years of experience, ideally 2D and scriptable objects)

We’re looking for a Unity Engineer to help us bring our next project — The Last Train — to life. You’ll work closely with design, art, and narrative to implement core systems, support rapid prototyping, and make sure everything feels smooth, responsive, and ready for players.

🛠️ What You’ll Do

  • Implement and maintain core gameplay systems (movement, crafting, survival, AI)
  • Build UI/UX elements (inventory, dialogue, resource bars, tooltips)
  • Optimize game performance across PC (and later Switch)
  • Work with 2D pipelines: animations, parallax backgrounds, sprite sorting
  • Collaborate with artists and designers to integrate new content efficiently
  • Build tools or editor extensions to improve workflow if needed

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience with Unity 2D (URP, Scriptable Objects, custom editors)
  • Solid knowledge of C# and clean, modular programming practices
  • Understanding of game architecture and performance optimization
  • Experience working with small teams or indie-style development

We’re looking for a versatile 2D Game Artist to help define and execute the visual direction of The Last Train — a beautiful, side-scrolling survival sim full of atmosphere, emotion, and slow storytelling. From cozy train interiors to vast seasonal landscapes, you’ll help bring our world to life with warmth, style, and cohesion.

🎨 What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve the game’s art direction in collaboration with the core team
  • Design and illustrate 2D environments, props, characters, and interiors
  • Create assets that support gameplay clarity and emotional tone
  • Develop parallax-ready backgrounds and side-view train wagons
  • Contribute to simple animations or effects (frame-based or shader-supported)
  • Work closely with design and programming to integrate assets in Unity

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • A strong portfolio showcasing environmental storytelling and 2D illustration
  • Experience in stylized or painterly art styles
  • Ability to create assets that feel both grounded and emotionally warm
  • Good understanding of layout, color, lighting, and UI/UX readability

We’re looking for a Game Designer to join the development of The Last Train — a 2D survival sim about rebuilding life after the end of the world, one wagon at a time. This role is ideal for someone who loves narrative design, creative worldbuilding, and designing elegant, player-driven systems.

You’ll help shape the emotional tone of the game, define its progression systems, and support the creative direction with thoughtful design decisions. If you can move between spreadsheets, story arcs, and Unity prototypes — you’re the kind of designer we’re looking for.

🎮 What You’ll Do

  • Design and balance core systems (resource economy, crafting, NPC automation, upgrades)
  • Support narrative direction with character arcs, event structure, and worldbuilding ideas
  • Collaborate on game pacing, milestones, and player retention design
  • Help design interfaces for crafting, trading, and NPC management
  • Create design docs, wireframes, or spreadsheets that communicate your ideas clearly
  • Support implementation and iteration using Unity (if capable)

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Experience designing gameplay systems for survival, sim, or narrative games
  • Strong grasp of progression, pacing, and player motivation
  • Comfort working with narrative elements: characters, themes, branching events
  • Familiarity with balancing resource economies and crafting systems
  • Clear communicator who can document, explain, and iterate on ideas quickly
  • Unity experience is a big plus (even for prototyping or testing)

We’re looking for a Producer to help keep development of The Last Train on track — someone organized, proactive, and ready to wear multiple hats. You’ll oversee day-to-day progress, handle outsourcing and vendor coordination, QA, and help turn creative chaos into clear, achievable milestones.

This is a key role in a small, agile team — ideal for someone who thrives in indie environments and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty across tasks and tools.

🎯 What You’ll Do

  • Own project schedules, priorities, and communication with the team
  • Coordinate with external artists, animators, sound designers, and freelancers
  • Track milestone goals, bugs, testing needs, and delivery deadlines
  • QA and feedback loops (test builds, manage bug reports, player feedback)
  • Ensure the game progresses smoothly across departments (design, art, programming, audio)
  • Pitch in across disciplines where needed — a true jack-of-all-trades

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience managing or producing games in small teams
  • Ability to follow up and follow through — especially with remote, async contributors
  • Comfort using tools like Notion, Trello, Google Sheets, Git, and Unity builds
  • Hands-on mindset — not afraid to do QA, formatting, research, or documentation
