This update represents another step forward in the ongoing work on Defiance. Alongside targeted fixes and balance adjustments, it reflects continued efforts to investigate core systems in order to improve gameplay balance and support a more consistent update process. As part of this work, internal analysis and documentation continue.
Fire Rate Exploit
This update resolves a fire rate exploit that had existed in the game for several years and had a significant impact on both PvP balance and the in-game economy. After extensive investigation and validation, the issue was addressed through a design-level adjustment rather than restrictive measures.
With support from the Game Sage team and members of the community, it was determined that the exploit originated from stacking fire rate bonuses from Berserker Shields.
As a result, the fire rate bonus granted by Berserker shields has been adjusted to a 10-second duration with a 15-second cooldown. This change prevents the stacking behavior that enabled the exploit while preserving the intended functionality of the shield and improving overall gameplay integrity.
If other ways to reproduce similar behavior arise, they will be investigated and additional solutions will be evaluated as needed.
Event Drops
As previously communicated, missing event drops were linked to an issue involving the Karma System. In this update, all affected event drops from the first half of the year have been fully reviewed and manually assigned to their corresponding events, ensuring consistency across all event rotations.
This fix allows events to be rotated without requiring a client patch.
Event Jackpot Weapon Drop Balance
JP weapon drop pools were reviewed and adjusted to ensure equal drop chances across all weapons within each pool. This change improves fairness and helps create a more consistent and rewarding experience during event participation.
Ongoing Improvements
This patch represents an important quality-of-life milestone, as it addresses issues that emerged during the game migration process as well as long-standing issues. It also provides additional insight to help evaluate and implement further fixes.
Further details on upcoming work remain available in the previously shared Year Wrap-Up communication.
